Natural soy wax candles produce virtually no soot or smoke. If you notice smoke from your soy candle, use the following candle rules:
Before lighting your candle, trim the wick down to 1/4”. Wicks left untrimmed will smoke.
Keeping wicks trimmed before use, and during long burn sessions, will eliminate any reason for smoke.
Burn your candles in draft free areas. This prolongs the life of your candle and ensures even melting along the top of your candle.
The difference between smoke and soot is that smoke will wipe right off the inside of the jar. Soot will not.
Soy wax has a lower melt point than other waxes. Remember to keep your soy wax candles out of the sun and bright light. It isn’t a good idea to store soy candles in window sills or cars. They will melt quickly. So use caution when traveling with your soy candles.
