2Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.”
The colors of this candle are profound. Blue has long since been the color symbolizing God. Red stands for our sin and also for Jesus dying on the cross for the sins of you and I. White stands for purity, or forgiveness. Without ever being lit, this candle is a reminder of God’s love for us.
Yet as the candle is pondered, another truth emerges. There are three colors that represent the Father (Blue), Son (Red) and Holy Spirit (White).
This unique candle is a quiet witness to God’s love without ever being lit.
However, our faith is not faith at all unless it is acted upon. When this candle is lit, the wax melts – the red and blue combine and become a purple layer on top of the candle. The purple signifies how we become a new creation when we open our hearts to Jesus. The purple color will eventually consume the entire candle as it is burned down and melted. It is a perfect illustration of how Jesus helps us grow into a new person, and eventually nothing of our old self is recognizable.
This is a perfect candle to burn while praying and or fasting, or to keep lit on any day a person wants to feel closer to the Lord. As it burns, it is a constant reminder of God’s change in us as we yield to His will for our lives.
May you be blessed as you enjoy this unique candle.
